Free web hosting
I think this information can be useful for you. If you plan to get your website, here is one good free web hosting provider to choose - 000webhost.com
They provide hosting absolutely free, there is no catch. You get 1500 MB of disk space and 100 GB bandwidth. They also have cPanel control panel which is amazing and easy to use website builder. Moreover, there is no kind of advertising on your pages.
You can register here: http://www.000webhost.com/473519.html
The free service will only give you a .web44.net domain, if you need .com or .co.uk you'll need to upgrade. However the price is fairly reasonable at approx $5 per month, but if you are only going to use it as a home web server or such, then you don't really need an upgrade.

Recovering Windows Passwords
This fascinating although slightly alarming tutorial shows how you can recover Windows passwords by using a program called ophcrack, this apparently reads the Security Accounts Manager or SAM files to recover the password. It uses a Live CD which can be used in Windows XP or Vista. Apparently it may have a problem with really complicated passwords which is something to be aware of if you need to use it or if your looking to try and stop someone else using it on your machine! But hey, everyone has made a password recovery disk right?!

I'm not really a fan of the iPad, it's very well designed and has a lot of cool features though. But in the interest of fairness, I thought I'd put this up, it's the top 10 iPad apps to show off your shiny piece of kit to your friends.

Google Maps gets offline download area feature
I tried this myself on my HTC and it works well. all you need to do is go into Maps>Menu>Labs and you will be presented with a few different features. Select the 'Download Map Area' and it will show a tick. All you need do then is to backup to the maps and long tap on the area you want to download. It will then pop up a speech bubble with a little arrow, select the arrow and you will get a list of options including download map area. It will then download a 10 mile square of the map around the area you selected. You will of course need space on your memory card, but it then doesn't need a connection to use it in that area, quite good.

2X Remote Desktop Client
I've recently been researching various remote desktop clients to put on my tablet PC. The main reason for this is so that I can access not just files (as I could do that through a FTP client) but so I can run software that is on my PC that is either not compatible or requires resources that my tablet doesn't have.
Of those I tested, I found 2X a really easy and simple app. The software is currently on version 9.0.1082 and has a good range of options:
- Select colour and resolution
- Display the remote computer background
- Menu and Window animation
- Themes
- Bitmap Caching
- Compression
It's also simple to set up, all you need to do is add a terminal server connection and fill in the details of the remote computer.
- Alias = Remote computer name
- Server = Remote computer IP address
- Port = 3389
- Username/Password = The ones you use to log onto your remote computer
So there you go, if you need this kind of software, give this one a try.

AirPort on a G4 Mac
Not quite air on a g string!
I purchased an AirPort card to install into my daughters PowerMac G4 Cube computer.
Straightforward installation involving pushing card into slot and connecting the wire connector.
When I started up the computer, I clicked the 'Connect Internet' application and the AirPort card found the router. However the router was downstairs and the card was unable to connect to it.
In order to test if this was a hardware or software problem, I moved the router upstairs and it connected. I first thought that the card has a very small range and is unable to connect even though it did detect the router downstairs.
Once I was satisfied that the card and router were communicating succsesfully, I moved the router back downstairs but closer to the upstairs bedroom. Unfortunately, the card still had issues connecting to the router.
After several attempts I had to move the router upstairs in order to get the best reception for the router, I also wireless enabled the downstairs computer to connect TV, XBOX 360 and Blu Ray Player to the internet as these are not wireless enabled.
After research on the internet, I was able to discover that the AirPort Card has problems dealing with the newer WPA encryption. One solution mentioned was to change the wireless routers encryption to WEP which seems to work.
I logged onto the wireless router and changed the encryption to WEP, once I had done this, the AirPort Card was able to connect and had a good signal. I tested the connection speed with basic internet searches and more intensive video and audio pages and the card worked wel within it's capability.
I then moved the wireless router downstairs so I could connect it via ethernet (RJ45 Cables) to my Xbox and BluRay player. This worked well and the signal to the AirPort Card was still good.
Obviously, using WEP is a big no no if you want secure internet connection. This is something I will be working on to resolve.
